Accreditation

The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee of Medical Education (LCME). The School received Full Accreditation status in June 2015.

Joint Board of Overseers

The Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine is overseen by a joint board composed of trustees from both Hofstra University and Northwell Health. The membership of the joint board is updated annually by election. Each member's home board is indicated below by an "H" for Hofstra or an "N" for Northwell.

Dean's Advisory Group/Cabinet

The Dean's Advisory Group is composed of senior leadership and advises the Dean on matters related to the operations, strategy, and finances of the School.   

Faculty Council

The Faculty Council is composed of a broad representation of School of Medicine faculty and advises the Dean on all matters related to the faculty, standing committees, and the academic community.

Standing Committees

The School has nine standing committees, all of which are advisory to the Dean.

The Faculty Appointments and Promotions Committee is composed of senior faculty members at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, and makes recommendations to the Dean on all matters related to faculty appointments and promotions.

The Committee of Combined Chairs is composed of the chairs of all academic departments, and advises the Dean on strategic planning related to education, research and patient care.

The Faculty Grievance Committee is composed of senior faculty members, hears all matters referred to it by the Dean and makes recommendations to the Dean.

The Curriculum Committee is composed of faculty educators, faculty members at-large and students, and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding the School of Medicine's curriculum.

The Admissions Committee is composed of faculty members representative of all of the departments of the School. It reviews admission criteria on an ongoing basis and selects applicants for admission to the School.

The Student Advancement Committee is composed of at-large faculty members and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding student academic advancement and remediation.

The Student Professionalism Committee is composed of medical educators, faculty at-large, and students, and makes recommendations to the dean regarding matters of student professionalism.

The Student Council is composed of student representatives of the medical school classes and of the PhD program, and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding all matters relating to student academic and non-academic life.

The Student Disciplinary Committee is composed of both faculty and student representatives and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding student disciplinary matters.
