Beth Whitehouse is author of The Match: “Savior Siblings” and One Family’s Battle to Heal Their Daughter (Beacon Press, April 2010), which has been featured on ABC’s The View (by Barbara Walters), CSPAN BOOK TV, National Public Radio’s The Diane Rehm Show, and by AOL Health and other major news organizations. The Match: “Savior Siblings” and One Family’s Battle to Heal Their Daughter is the story of one family’s quest to cure their daughter by having another child who could serve as a bone marrow match, using cutting-edge and controversial medical procedures.
Ms. Whitehouse is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for Newsday and an adjunct professor of journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Her 2007 Newsday front-page series “The Match,” the basis for her book, won numerous national awards, including the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors First Place for Narrative Feature Writing, National Association of Science Writers Science in Society Award, and the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism in service to children. Ms. Whitehouse lives in Long Island, New York.
