"The Value of Vision as an Element of the Culture of an Institution"

Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine Dean Dr. Lawrence Smith will be presenting a lecture “The Value of Vision as an Element of the Culture of an Institution” as part of the series: The Complete Physician: Educating Tomorrow’s Caregivers on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the Medical Education Theater at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University, North campus.

Dr. Smith was named founding dean of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University in 2008. In addition to serving as dean of the new medical school, Dr. Smith also serves as Executive Vice President and Physician-in-Chief at the North Shore-LIJ Health System. 

The Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine is hosting a two-year lecture series titled The Complete Physician: Educating Tomorrow’s Caregivers. Each lecture examines one of the School of Medicine’s core values-Community, Scholarship, Innovation, Learning, Humanism, Diversity, Professionalism, Patient-Centeredness, Reflection and Vision-through the eyes of a guest scholar, public policymaker or advocate. The School of Medicine, enshrouded in a culture of community, scholarship and innovation, is dedicated to inspiring diverse and promising students to lead and transform medicine for the betterment of humanity. This program is sponsored by the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, the office of Academic Affairs at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine and is free and open to the public.  Registration at medicine.hofstra.edu/deansmith
