Students who matriculate at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine come from across the country, from every kind of undergraduate institution, with a variety of majors and different life experiences. In our Class of 2015, more than half of the class took at least one year off to pursue more education, careers or other interests. Many students completed post-bac work or Master’s degrees, and half of our students are fluent in a second language. We value diversity in every way, and our class represents diversity in the following areas: age, ethnic/racial, educational backgrounds, life experiences, sexual orientations, religion, geographic, socio-economic statuses, and career interests. Our students have one thing in common though; all of our students are adult, independent learners with a passion to pursue humanistic medicine.
