The Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine is in a unique position to become a national leader in the education and professional development of future physicians and scientists.
Hofstra University and North Shore-LIJ Health System have partnered to create a medical school that emphasizes early clinical experiences, self-directed learning, and a case-based curriculum. We prepare our students for the changing field of medicine through a team-based approach to training and patient care, including a program that focuses on the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and find information efficiently. Together, our students learn science and healthcare in the context of medicine, while working within a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
Students in all three of our programs—MD, MD/PhD, and PhD—have access to the resources offered by Hofstra University and the North Shore-LIJ Health System. These include, but are not limited to, recreational facilities, a research institute, a simulation center and standardized patient lab, private practices and seventeen hospital sites throughout Long Island and New York City.
