Dr. John Di Capua

Dr. Di Capua is Senior Vice President of Anesthesiology Services for the North Shore-LIJ Health System, and Chairman of Anesthesiology at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center.  In these roles, Dr. Di Capua supervises over 400 Anesthesia providers in 15 hospitals covering over 380,000 surgical procedures per year.  Dr. Di Capua also supervises the academic mission of the Department of Anesthesiology which includes:  two Anesthesiology training programs; the education of numerous non Anesthesiology residents; medical student education; and an active clinical research program.

Dr. Di Capua trained in Anesthesiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a fellowship in Pain Management and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at the same institution.  He was on the Faculty of Harvard Medical School for a year before joining the North Shore-LIJ Health System in 1994.  Dr. Di Capua is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management.  He is an Associate Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.  

Dr. Di Capua has served various hospital leadership roles including Chairman of the Medical Board at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Dr. Di Capua is Deputy CEO and Chief Medical Officer of NAPA Management Services Corporation which is a multistate Medical Management Company incorporating the largest private practices in Anesthesiology and Pediatrics in the United States.  He is interested in perioperative operational management, clinical staffing models and lectures nationally on how Anesthesia Departments can provide quality and operational value to hospitals.
