The Department of Anesthesiology is committed to providing the highest standard in Anesthesia Care made possible today. Vigilance is our motto and all patients are treated following local, regional and national safety protocols. Through active quality management tracking, the Department of Anesthesiology has created processes that result in excellent patient outcomes.
The Department consists of over 380 physicians, 80 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, 70 Allied Health Practitioners, 50 Anesthesia Technicians and 20 support staff.
The Department of Anesthesia performs over 330,000 Anesthetic interventions per year in all aspects of surgical, procedural and diagnostic care. Areas of specialization include: Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Orthopedic Surgery, Neuro-Anesthesiology, Adult and Pediatric Trauma, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgical Oncology, Head and Neck Surgery, Otolaryngology, Vascular, Plastic Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Critical Care Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, Dental Anesthesiology, Chronic and Oncologic Pain Management, and Acute Pain Management. The Department is also expert in Out of the OR anesthesiology covering many areas such as Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Radiology, and Pediatric Sedation.
The Department of Anesthesiology is committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients. In 2009, the Department led a team of experts in the creation of the largest National Anesthesiology Outcome Quality Data Warehouse with over 2.1 million patients. This project has allowed our Department to set national benchmarks and research better ways to take care of patients.
