Ronald P. Burakoff, DMD, MPH
Dr. Ronald P. Burakoff is currently the chairman of the Department of Dental Medicine at Northwell Health. He oversees dental residency education for five residency training programs and 44 residents.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and received his undergraduate training at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and was awarded a D.M.D. degree. Dr. Burakoff pursued graduate training in Dental Public Health at the University of North Carolina and completed a residency training program in dental public health at the New York State Department of Health’s Bureau of Dental Health. Dr. Burakoff is a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health.
Dr. Burakoff is author of over 20 articles and/ or book chapters. He has been the project director and/ or author of over $1 million of sponsored research in the fields of dental post graduate training and dental service programs. He is a member of numerous professional associations and hospital committees. Dr. Burakoff is currently the chair of the Performance Improvement Coordinating Group of LIJMC. In this role he is responsible for communicating and directing the activities of Quality Management for the Medical Board. Dr. Burakoff served as Region II Vice- President of the AAHD from 1994-1996. He has been associated with hospital dentistry since 1974 and has held leadership positions in three hospitals. His most recent project has been the launching of a mobile dental unit to address access issues for children, pregnant women and elderly living in Long Island.
