Hofstra University is pleased to announce the appointment of Lawrence G. Smith, M.D. as the founding dean of the Hofstra University School of Medicine in partnership with North Shore-LIJ Health System

After receiving approval from the governing boards, Hofstra University and North Shore-LIJ Health System have formally signed the agreement to partner in the development of a new school of medicine on Hofstra’s Hempstead, New York campus. (See the declaration. [PDF])

Hofstra University School of Medicine in partnership with North Shore-LIJ Health System, which hopes to admit its first class in 2011, is currently pursuing preliminary accreditation with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and approval from the State of New York.
