Welcome to the department of Dermatology!

Our department's mission is to serve as a leader in patient care, teaching, and research relevant to diseases of the integument. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality patient-centered care with a diverse portfolio of general and subspecialty medical and procedure based services in dermatology. We aim to cultivate the very best physicians and visionary leaders in the specialty of dermatology. In doing so, we also strive to meet the highest standards of ethics and academic excellence.

We represent the only academic dermatology department in Nassau County, and we are the largest full time academic practice on Long Island. We have brought together an expert group of physicians and staff who will enable us to serve the dermatologic care needs of the community and who will help us realize our overall goals. Our clinical services are comprehensive, and we provide medical and procedural care for the full spectrum of conditions involving the skin, hair and nails. We also provide subspecialty care for patients with complex medical dermatology conditions.

In turn, we are committed to providing the highest quality training for residents, medical students and clinical scholars who share an interest in dermatology in a manner that encourages life-long learning and continuous professional development. As our residency training program grows, we also look to add fellowship programs in pediatric dermatology, procedural dermatology, and dermatopathology, while also supporting core educational and clinical experiences for medical students at the Zucker School of Medicine.

The Department will also engage in translational research, early phase clinical trials research for difficult to treat conditions, as well as in patient-centered health services research which will help pave the way for new models of dermatologic care in the near future.

This is truly an exciting time for our community of patients and physician partners, the School of Medicine and Northwell Health. As the Department's Founding Chair, I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead our team in establishing the department's vision and implementing strategies that will allow us to achieve our mission.

When I think about the most successful departments across the country, they all have in common collaborative bidirectional relationships with their communities. The support and generosity of our entire community of patients, physician partners, and friends will be instrumental to our collective success, the principal benchmark for which will be the health of our patients. My sincere hope is that all of you will engage the Department with your ideas and suggestions in the months and years ahead. I look forward to this exciting journey with all of you.
