On behalf of the faculty and administration of the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, I am pleased to welcome our new and returning students to the start of the 2023/24 academic year. We are not only excited to see you learn and achieve your goals as a medical student and professional but eager to help support and encourage you, in every way that we can, to be the best that you can be.

The world of medicine and healthcare is constantly evolving, so whether you are just beginning or, like me, have achieved many milestones along the way, each day is another step in this exciting lifelong journey of continual growth and discovery. As I tell many people starting in medicine, you will climb the mountain but never reach the top, run the race but never cross the finish line. This notion can be both exhilarating and scary at the same time. Still, my advice to every student, no matter where they are in the journey, is never to lose their focus and purpose – improving the health and well-being of our patients and communities.

To all our students, congratulations on taking this next step together! Always know that you have the full support of the Zucker School of Medicine. We look forward to celebrating your achievements and milestones along your individual and collective journey. Best of luck to you all during this academic year.
