Education

MD/MS

Overview

The Masters of Science in Translational and Clinical Research was designed as a one-year program for ZSOM students who have had limited experiences with translational or clinical research and are potentially interested in incorporating research into their medical career or, for other reasons, opted not to apply to the MD PhD program.

Program objectives aim to provide medical students: the basic knowledge and skills required to conduct clinical and translational research; the opportunity to conduct rigorous year-long research under the mentoring of a faculty member; and the ability to independently develop hypotheses, analyze and evaluate data.

Following completion of the one-year program, students will have the opportunity to transition into the ZSOM MD/PhD program.

Eligibility and Cost

Zucker School of Medicine students are eligible to apply for admission to this program in their MS2 or MS3 year. Applications consist of an essay stating interest in the program and are due April 1. Students must have successfully completed the First 100 weeks coursework and taken Step 1 to be accepted into the program. Tuition remission and a stipend for the year are both provided. This program has been generously endowed by Barbara Zucker.
