To assure that our medical students are better prepared for residency, we created a formative EPA exercise where students are assessed in many of the core EPAs with emphasis on orders and prescriptions, forming clinical questions, handovers, informed consent and patient safety. In addition we provide sessions on “goals of care discussion” and “error” disclosure. This exercise occurs during one of the required acting internships to allow students to detect deficiencies and gain expertise during their acting internship.
