The Strange Case of Dr. Doyle: A Journey into Madness & Mayhem, 
by Dr. Eugene Friedman and Dr. Daniel Friedman

Presentation/Meet the Authors/Book Signing:  Dr. Eugene Friedman and Dr. Daniel Friedman Discuss Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author and physician
Drs. Eugene "Gene" Friedman and Daniel Freedman (father/son) are authors of the recently (2015) released book, The Strange Case of Dr. Doyle: A Journey into Madness & Mayhem, which delves into the life story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a physician and the author of the much-acclaimed Sherlock Holmes novels. 

 

Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature
A Poster Exhibit on Tour from the US National Library of Medicine.  This program is being sponsored jointly by the Health Sciences Library at the SOM and the Osler Society.

Theatrical Presentation, Scenes from Frankenstein, the play, intertwined with an Expert Speaker, Bioethics Panel Discussions and Q&A
Monday, Jan 25, 2016  
5:30 p.m:  Viewing of Frankenstein Poster Exhibit from the US National Library of Medicine.  Hofstra University Museum educators will be available to explain and discuss the artwork depicted in the posters.
6:00p.m.-7:00:  Introduction, Theatrical Presentation & Discussion:  The Osler Society Medicine in Theater group will perform select scenes from Frankenstein, the Play, for the purpose of highlighting bioethical issues.  A panel consisting of Dr. Avner Hershlag  and members of the Bioethics Club students will discuss the issues raised by the scenes and engage in Q&A with the audience.   Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine Lobby & W 101

A Theatrical Presentation by Gardiner Comfort, created and directed by Gardiner Comfort and Kel Haney. Using an erratic and energetic performance style, actor Gardiner Comfort shares his experience living with Tourette's syndrome, and shares how he discovered, for the first time in his life, how he can be himself.  "Comfort is a charming, versatile performer: He can dance, shift personas, inhabit multiple characters with dialects and physicality, and somehow exude a vulnerability wrapped in confidence.... a talented performer with TS sharing honest, touching stories."- New York Theatre Review
Performance followed by Expert Panel Discussion.

Healer's Art Course  
Spring 2016

This extracurricular course will be offering on five evenings during the Spring Semester.  It will be offered by faculty trained in the Healer's Art curriculum, primarily to MS1 Students, although if there is interest in the MS2 class, a separate section (small group) will be created for MS2 Students.  
Scheduled Dates:
March 28, April 4, April 11, April 18, April 28, May 2
*There are six dates noted as the last is an alternative in case of a cancellation.
All classes take place at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine.
