Topic: The Effects of COVID-19 on Provider Wellbeing within the Emergency Department
The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell proudly presents the 9th Annual Northeast Emergency Medicine Interest Group Symposium. This year’s theme is “The Effects of COVID-19 on Provider Wellbeing within the Emergency Department”.
This year’s keynote speaker is J. Corey Feist, the co-founder of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes' Foundation, who will be speaking about physician burnout and how to change the culture of medicine to better support providers. He will be followed by Dr. David Marcus, an Emergency Medicine Residency Director at Northwell Health, who will discuss wellbeing resources available both in and out of the Northwell system.
The symposium will feature two residency panels, one by program directors and another by residents themselves, allowing attendees to gather information on several programs and speak with residents to get a unique perspective into their lives, advice, and experiences. Following the residency panels, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in several interactive stations run by renowned EM attendings and residents including simulations, imaging games, and a mental health counseling workshop.
