Promotion Checklist
Academic Rank
Have you been at your current academic rank for at least 3 years? If so, you are eligible for promotion!
Criteria
You must demonstrate unequivocal peer recognition in one of the four areas of Research, Clinical Care, Education, or Service Administration/Leadership. For details, please visit the Promotions page.
*Referees
You must provide contact information for six external referees who will write letters on your behalf.
Letter
The first step is to talk to your departmental chair about writing a letter supporting your promotion.
CV
Your CV needs to be in the Zucker SOM template to be considered for promotion. For details please visit Faculty CV page.

Ask someone in your department who has been through the promotions process or email the Office of Faculty Affairs.
*Referees
For candidates applying for Associate Professor, all referees must be Associate Professors or Professors at their institutions. Referees must be able to speak to your regional reputation of excellence.
For candidates applying for Professor, all referees must be Professors at their institutions. Referees must be able to speak to your national/international reputation of excellence.
No more than two referees can be mentors/supervisors.
Referees cannot be employed by Northwell Health, Hofstra University, or have a faculty appointment at the Zucker School of Medicine.
