Disbursement

Requirements

Students may be required to provide additional documentation to the Office of Student Finance, such as proof of U.S. citizenship, selective service registration, etc. if it was not verified by the U.S. Department of Education when you initially submitted the FAFSA.  This requirement must be cleared before you can receive federal student aid.  If you encounter any outstanding requirements on the Hofstra portal, please contact the Office of Student Finance at the Zucker School of Medicine for further assistance.

Scholarships will automatically disburse to your Hofstra account according to the disbursement schedule below.

Step 1:  Accept the award by logging in to the Hofstra Portal.

Step 2: Complete the North Shore-LIJ Health Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling at Heartland ECSI, the school's loan servicer.  Heartland ECSI will send instructions to your Hofstra pride email address approximately 24-48 hours after loan acceptance.  You must complete a new MPN each year that you borrow the North Shore-LIJ Health Loan.

Accepting Federal Loans - federal regulations require that all federal loans be divided into two equal installments.  However, you may submit a request to adjust your loan disbursements after the fall disbursement.  Please visit the Forms section of our website to download the loan adjustment form and submit it to our office for processing.

Step 2:  First-time borrowers only:  After completing Step 1, complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling at the U.S. Department of Education website

Step 2:  Complete a separate Graduate PLUS loan application at the U.S. Department of Education studentaid.gov website.  A new application must be completed each year that you borrow from this loan program.
