Beyond the Classroom
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training
The first course of our curriculum includes an innovative early clinical immersion in which students integrate their medical knowledge and skills and become certified Emergency Medical Technicians. This approach to ‘knowledge in action’ promotes the early transformation of students from medical bystanders to active participants in meaningful patient encounters.
Early Patient Interactions
The first course of our curriculum includes an innovative early clinical immersion in which students integrate their medical knowledge and skills and become certified Emergency Medical Technicians. Building upon this training, the Initial Clinical Experience (ICE), allows first and second-year medical students to complement their classroom learning with 'hands-on' experience working with patients for one full afternoon each week.
Hands on Learning
We begin preparing students from day one to function in clinical settings. The Structure Lab integrates all the disciplines of anatomy under one roof. Working with donors from our Anatomical Gift Program, our students generate clinical inferences from direct observations. Students learn normal gross anatomy, histology, and embryology alongside pathology, medical imaging, ultrasound, and physical diagnosis.
