Transcript Guidelines

The academic transcript is a certified document that reflects an unabridged summary of a student’s academic history at the Zucker School of Medicine. Please note that all courses are graded as Pass/Fail except third-year core clerkships and fourth-year acting internships.

Pass (P) indicates quality work worthy of credit at the expected level of performance.

High Pass (HP) indicates quality work at a level higher than expected performance.

Honors (H) indicates exceptional work at a level higher than expected performance.

Fail (F) indicates performance that did not meet established expectations.

Fail/Pass (F/P) indicates performance that fell short of established expectations and required remedial work to meet expectations. A student may receive this grade only if the Student Advancement Committee or the dean grants a second reassessment attempt as opposed to repeating the course in its entirety.

Conditional Pass (CP) indicates performance fell short of established expectations and requires re-assessment. This mark is only available for the first attempt of a course. This mark is temporary and must be resolved prior to the student’s advancement to the next level of training.

In Progress (PR) indicates a course is in progress or the grade is pending. This mark is temporary and is replaced when the final grade becomes available.

Withdrawn (W) indicates withdrawal from a course prior to completion. This mark is irreversible.

Incomplete (I) indicates that extenuating medical or personal circumstances beyond the student’s control prevented completion of course requirements prior to the course end date. This mark is temporary and must be resolved prior to the student’s advancement to the next level of training.
