AMCAS verifies and distributes applications to the medical schools to which students are applying. AMCAS staff can be reached by email at amcas@aamc.org, or by calling (202) 282-0600.

Applicants interested in applying to our MD/PhD program should apply through AMCAS and select MD/PhD as their program type. One complete set of transcripts must be submitted to AMCAS.  Please do not send official or unofficial transcripts directly to the Zucker School of Medicine.

After applying through AMCAS, you will be notified via email of the Zucker School of Medicine's receipt of a verified application.  Please be sure your email security settings allow emails from medicine.admissions@hofstra.edu.

Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell offers the opportunity for highly qualified applicants, who are certain that the Zucker School of Medicine is their first choice, to apply through the Early Decision Program (EDP). Under the EDP, applicants may only apply to Zucker School of Medicine. Requirements for early decision are the same as those for the regular admissions process. 

  • Applicants must apply through AMCAS for the EDP by August 1
  • All secondary materials must be submitted by August 31 
  • Interviews will be conducted in early September 
  • Admission decisions will be sent on October 1 

Applicants who are offered acceptance must attend Zucker School of Medicine.  Those applicants who are not accepted under the EDP will automatically be considered with the regular applicant pool, and may then apply to other institutions.

Secondary Application

Applicants possessing the following credentials will automatically receive an email invitation to complete a secondary application:
 

  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above
  • A minimum composite Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) falling within or above the 50th percentile on the new MCAT

Applicants with extraordinary undergraduate or post-graduate experience, especially in the scientific and/or clinical setting, falling below the minimums listed above, may request a secondary application by completing the following form:

Requested secondary applications will not be issued until the Zucker School of Medicine has received a verified AMCAS application. Please note the median MCAT scores and cumulative undergraduate GPAs of the Zucker School of Medicine's recently admitted classes.

Please allow up to two weeks after submitting your AMCAS application and/or your request to receive the secondary application.

* All application materials, including the $100 secondary application fee, a Premedical Committee Letter or at least three letters of recommendation, a CASPer™ score, and an MCAT score are due by this date. (Application Requirements.)
