INTERVIEW DAY

The virtual interview day is designed to introduce applicants to the collaborative learning environment, research opportunities, and student experience at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research.

Throughout the day, applicants engage with faculty, administrators, and current students while gaining insight into the MD/PhD program, curriculum, and interview process.

What to Expect

Your Interview Day

Applicants participate in a series of interactive sessions designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the MD/PhD program and the Zucker School of Medicine learning environment.

Multiple Mini Interview (MMI)

The Multiple Mini Interview, or MMI, is designed to support a holistic admissions process by giving applicants multiple opportunities to demonstrate personal and professional attributes valued in future physician-scientists.

5 Scenario Stations

Scenario Stations

Scenario stations are designed to assess qualities important in medical school candidates, including communication, professionalism, ethical reasoning, adaptability, and critical thinking.

There are no right or wrong answers. Interviewers are interested in how applicants approach complex situations and articulate their thought process.

Applicants have 2 minutes to read the scenario and formulate a response, and 6 minutes to discuss the scenario with the interviewer. 

Open
Stations

The open station follows a traditional one-on-one interview format and provides applicants an opportunity to discuss their experiences, motivations, and interests in greater depth.

Applicants are given:

  • 2 minutes to prepare
  • 30 minutes for conversation with the interviewer

Interviewers in the open station have access to the applicant’s full application.
