Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell participates in the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).
Application Process
AMCAS verifies and distributes applications to the medical schools to which students are applying. AMCAS staff can be reached by email at amcas@aamc.org, or by calling (202) 282-0600.
One complete set of transcripts must be submitted to AMCAS. Please do not send official or unofficial transcripts directly to the Zucker School of Medicine.
After applying through AMCAS, you will be notified via email of the Zucker School of Medicine's receipt of a verified application. Please be sure your email security settings allow emails from medicine.admissions@hofstra.edu.
Early Decision
Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell offers the opportunity for highly qualified applicants, who are certain that the Zucker School of Medicine is their first choice, to apply through the Early Decision Program (EDP). Under the EDP, applicants may only apply to Zucker School of Medicine. Requirements for early decision are the same as those for the regular admissions process, including the completion of the CASPer exam (the final test date to be eligible for the 2025 EDP is July 21, 2024. The final date to distribute your CASPer™ score is August 1, 2024):
- All application materials, including a completed AMCAS application, and all secondary materials must be received by August 1.
- If invited to interview, the virtual interview will be conducted in mid-August.
- If not selected for an interview, applicants will be notified at this time and will be able to apply to other institutions.
- Final admissions decisions will be sent by September 1.
Applicants who are offered acceptance must attend Zucker School of Medicine. Those applicants who are not accepted under the EDP will automatically be considered with the regular applicant pool and may then apply to other institutions.
Secondary Application
All applicants will automatically receive an email invitation to complete a secondary application, if the following criteria has been/is being met:

Completion of, or in the process of completing, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university (the completion of the degree is required prior to matriculation)

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or hold DACA status.

Completion of or registered to take the MCAT exam within the last 3 years (The final MCAT exam accepted for the cycle is the last test date given in September)
Deadlines
Early Decision: All application materials, including a completed AMCAS application, and all secondary materials must be received by August 1*.
Regular Decision:
AMCAS Application Deadline: November 1
Secondary Application Deadline: December 1*
* All application materials, including the $125 secondary application fee, a Premedical Committee Letter or at least three letters of recommendation, a CASPer™ score, and an MCAT score are due by this date. (Application Requirements.)
