Cardiology

The Cardiology faculty is dedicated to providing innovative, world class care for patients with heart disease in state-of-the-art facilities. Northwell Health has some of the most widely acclaimed New York cardiovascular centers, and we continue to add world renowned faculty members to further enhance the programs. The breadth of experience and expertise of each of our healthcare professionals allow comprehensive cardiovascular care to be provided to large and diverse patient populations. Year after year, both Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery have extensive volume, excellent outcomes and are awarded top quality scores from the State of New York.

Our internationally recognized physicians are authorities in acute coronary syndromes, ischemic heart disease, valvular and structural heart disease, arrhythmias, adult congenital heart disease and heart failure. We also have an extensive team of cardiologists who specialize in vascular medicine, clotting, women’s heart issues, advanced cardiac imaging and prevention. There is enormous depth in each sub-specialty of cardiology; for example, in imaging you can choose to learn and perform transthoracic and transesophageal echo, nuclear, CT angiography and cardiac MRI. In the cardiac catheterization laboratory, there are diagnostic procedures, coronary and peripheral interventions with stents, atherectomy, lasers and percutaneous left ventricular support devices.  Advanced interventionalists replace and repair cardiac valves and mechanical defects as well as perform percutaneous treatment of venous and pulmonary artery clots. Electrophysiology has extensive diagnostic abilities, performs pacemakers/ICDs, advanced ablations for VT/AF, placement of interventional heart failure pacing and vagus nerve stimulation devices. The advanced heart failure team provides innovative medical management of patients but also determines the need for and management of balloon pumps/Impella /ECMO/ LVAD and cardiac transplants.
